Volunteer

The time you put into volunteering will help maintain Parity's vital services for children and young adults with multiple disabilities.

Volunteering for Parity

Whether you just volunteer for us for a short time, or you become a Parity volunteer for life, we can work around the time you have available and how you want to be involved.

Below are details of volunteering opportunities at our upcoming events, in our shops and within our services. To find out more or to sign up as a new volunteer, please contact Bernadette at the Parity office on 01252 375581, send an e-mail to her at info@parityfordisability.org.uk, or complete our volunteers form.

You can also support us by taking part in one of our upcoming sponsored events or sponsoring someone who is. Please click here to visit the events page.

Volunteering with Parity's Services

The staff working with the people who use our services are all professionally trained and continue to build on their training while working for Parity. There are places for volunteer assistants. Please contact us to find out more about volunteering in one of our_day_centres or on our teenage activity schemes.

Volunteering in Parity's Shops

We have three very busy, friendly shops at: 69 Camp Road, North Camp; 53 High Street, Frimley; and 9 Linkway Parade, Church Crookham. If you would like to find out more about being a shop volunteer, please feel free to drop into one of them and chat with a manager. Contact Parity.

Events Volunteers

Friendly, confident people are needed on evenings or weekends to help set up for events, assist during, and/or pack away at the finish. You need not be there for the duration of the event, any time you have will be helpful. More opportunities are available for people looking for events experience. This is a good role for anyone who would like to meet more people, build skills for their c.v. or learn more about the charity world. Contact Helene.

Collections Volunteers

Just holding a tin for one or two hours occasionally throughout the year will help make our street collections successful. The more the merrier. Contact Helene.

Social Enterprise Volunteer

This is a great role for someone with an interest in business or social enterprise, who has at least one day available to volunteer during the week. Parity staff and students have developed a variety of ideas for social enterprises which would create consistent fundraising income for Parity and help maintain and develop our vital services for children and adults with multiple disabilities. The volunteer role requires a confident, practical person to investigate the potential of these ideas, with a view to applying for grant funding and launching the most viable project. Contact Helene.

Metal Detecting Event Volunteer

To seek out 100 acres of suitable farmland for a metal-detecting rally. Finding the land will require a few hours a week spent surfing the net and making phone calls, which can be done from the Parity office or from home (we will reimburse your expenses). Parity staff will organise the event once land has been identified. This is a great opportunity for someone to get to know the organisation and move on to other volunteering opportunities that interest them. Contact Helene.

Kilimanjaro Trek Volunteer

A chance to trek to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro in July 2011! Parity is looking for an adventurous and outgoing person to help recruit the next team of trekkers to Africa’s highest mountain next year. If you successfully help recruit at least 10 participants, you will be able to join them in taking on the challenge! The role requires a friendly, confident person who will see it through to completion. Contact Helene.

Poster Volunteer – 10 weeks

A temporary role to help circulate posters about the charity’s services to identified sites where they can be seen by the people who wish to use them. We’re looking for someone with two or more hours a week free. The role will involve some phone calling from the Parity office and would require someone with a friendly but professional phone manner. The volunteer must also have own transport and be willing to travel to various sites in Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire if needed. Contact Helene.
